With November starting under high pressure, expect clear skies and warm temperatures for Alabama, while monitoring rip current risks at the coast and potential tropical developments that could impact the Gulf later this week
Indications are that Hurricane Rafael will form over the western Caribbean early in the week and move into the Central Gulf, where wind shear will take a toll on the system and likely weaken it.
Patty’s maximum sustained winds have increased to 65 mph (100 km/h), with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is anticipated, and Patty is expected to transition into a post-tropical low by Sunday night.
This weekend offers a mix of spooky Halloween festivities across the state, including haunted attractions, parades, and family activities, along with the upcoming Christmas Village Festival starting next week and the Moss Rock Festival celebrating nature and creativity on Nov. 2-3.

The front continues to bring clouds and some scattered showers to Alabama today, but the rain is light, and should generally dissipate later this evening. Highs today are in the 70s and low 80s.

RADAR CHECK: A band of showers has moved into Northwest Alabama this afternoon ahead of a surface front… we also note a few showers over the southwest counties of the state as well. Showers are possible through tomorrow as the front stalls out and slowly dissipates; the most widespread and beneficial rail will be over the northwest quarter of the state.
Highs today are ranging from the mid 70s to mid 80s across the state. We are seeing a mix of sun and clouds, but we are watching a cold front to out northwest, currently over Western Tennessee.
