Tornado warning in effect for the Mobile metro. NWS: “At 821 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Mobile Regional Airport, or 7 miles west of Midtown Mobile, moving east at 30 mph.”
Moderate to heavy downpours approaching the Birmingham metro area. Likely to get wet at the Birmingham Bowl Soon!

Strong storms entering west Alabama
Showers continue, and periods of wet weather are likely for the Birmingham Bowl. Plus, a detailed look at the severe weather risk for Saturday.
Severe storms will move into Alabama Saturday afternoon and will impact much of the state Saturday night into early Sunday with tornadoes, wind, and hail.
Low end risk for severe weather today, and a watch issuance is not likely per SPC
Rain showers will plague today’s Birmingham Bowl, but it won’t be a total washout. There is little chance of a lightning delay. Tomorrow, Alabama faces a severe weather threat, including the chance for tornadoes.
Rain and storms this morning are moving into a stable air mass, and there is little to no threat of severe weather today. Tomorrow, the threat of severe storms increases across Alabama.
