I’ve been getting a lot of questions recently about heavy metals in dark chocolate — my favorite and top-rated “healthy” dessert. This all started after a high-profile report from Consumer Reports that raised concerns about heavy metals in some popular dark chocolate brands.
LIGHT RAIN TONIGHT: Clouds are increasing over the western half of Alabama this afternoon ahead of a disturbance that will bring light rain to much of the state tonight. The most widespread rain will be along and south of I-20, and amounts should be under 1/2 inch.
A bit warmer today with highs climbing into the 50s, but clouds will be increasing from the west today and some rain is expected tonight and rainfall amounts will les than one-half inch.
With a partly sunny sky temperatures rise into the 50s this afternoon. Clouds will increase late in the day, and some rain is likely tonight, mostly over the southern 2/3 of the state (along and south of I-20). Rain amounts should be under 1/2 inch

COLD, DRY DECEMBER DAY: Temperatures are barely out of the 30s across North Alabama this afternoon despite sunshine in full supply. It is a bit warmer to the south, where Mobile has reached the mid 50s. Tonight will be clear and cold; most communities will see a low in the 20s
Tons of sunshine in the cobalt blue Alabama sky today, but despite all the sunshine, it remains a cold day with afternoon temperatures around fifteen degrees below average for this time of year; highs today are only in the mid-40s.
At the end of the 19th century, more than 90% of Alabama had no access to electricity, with people still lighting their homes with candles or kerosene lanterns and most of the cooking still taking place over wooden stoves. However, on Dec. 4, 1906, the trajectory of the state changed forever with the founding of Alabama Power.
ANOTHER COLD DECEMBER DAY: Temperatures won’t get past the 40s for most of Alabama today despite a sunny sky. Some in the Tennessee Valley might hold in the 30s this afternoon as a new shot of colder air arrives.

COLD: The sky is sunny across Alabama this afternoon; mid-afternoon temperatures range from 46 at Huntsville to 62 at Mobile. Some clouds will move into the northern counties this evening, and a few sprinkles or flurries are possible across the Tennessee Valley tonight. But understand the air is very dry and most places will see no precipitation at all.
I am a self-proclaimed donut enthusiast. I can’t get enough of those tasty critters. I think my love for donuts started when I watched “The Simpsons.” Homer Simpson would eat these tasty, pink-iced donuts with sprinkles, and I just had to have one. I know that it was a cartoon, but they looked so good.
A reinforcing shot of cold air is dropping into Alabama today, and temperatures remain well-below average with highs struggling to climb out of the 40s despite plenty of sunshine.
COLD: A new shot of cold, dry air will drop into Alabama today, keeping temperatures well below average. Look for a high in the 47-52 degree range over the northern counties, with mid 50s to the south.
