Storms Over Parts of the State

Here’s an Alabama weather update at 7:10 PM on this Friday evening. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are moving across Alabama at this hour.

The strongest storms are just south east of Montgomery.

Going clockwise around the state here are where the thunderstorms are at this hour…

…A cluster of storms is located along I 59 on the decal Etowah county border north east of Gadsden.

…In East Alabama scattered showers are across parts of Clay, Randolph, and Tallapoosa counties north of Alex city.

…Southeast of Montgomery, the storms extend along 82 and US 231 through southeastern Montgomery county another storm is south of Union Springs along US 29 in southern bullet counting and further to the south in Pike County another storm is between Troy and Brundidge along US 231.

…in West Central Alabama thunderstorms are over Sumter county around the Livingston and York areas.

And in the Birmingham Metro area, storms have formed along outflow boundaries across southeastern Bibb and southwestern Shelby counties. The strongest storms here are from west of Calera to Montevallo, into southeastern Bibb County. They are trying to work up into southern parts of the Birmingham metro area and may be successful in doing that over the next hour or so on the western side of Birmingham. There is a heavy shower trying to become a thunderstorm along I 20 and 59 just south west of Bessemer.

Additional storms are forming in Walker and Northwestern, Jefferson County, from just south of Jasper to near Parrish to near Gorgas and then to near Toadvine.

The storms are not especially strong or severe, but they will contain heavy rain, occasional lightning and gusty winds. Mainly they will bring some relief to the heat that continues to be siege, Alabama. Get used to them, they will be around for much of the weekend.
