It is a mostly sunny and hot day across North and Central Alabama. Temperatures are in the middle and upper 90s. Highs so far this afternoon have reached 98F at Birmingham and Centreville.

The record for today in Birmingham is 101F.

Tonight will feature fair skies with lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

A weak frontal system will be approaching Alabama on Sunday, but the afternoon will be a hot one. Readings will range from 94F to 98F.

A few showers or storms will reach North Alabama Sunday evening, and push slowly southward through the night. It should reach I-20 by 2-3 a.m. They will be pushing to near Montgomery by sunrise.

Monday and Tuesday will be hot, with highs again in the upper 90s.

We will be in a northwesterly flow by midweek, and showers and thunderstorms will re-enter the forecast for Wednesday and perhaps Thursday.

Friday looks dry, but it looks like scattered showers and storms will return for Friday and Saturday.
