At 10:39 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Section, or near Scottsboro, moving northeast at 30 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.
At 10:14 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a heavy rain shower near Guntersville, moving northeast at 25 mph. Winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm.
The SPC thinks storms will intensify over South and South Central Alabama over the next few hours and warns that a few of them could be severe with damaging winds and even an isolated tornado.
Flooding will be the main threat overnight as rainfall should intensify through the overnight hours. Rain will end from the northwest tomorrow morning with severe weather threat setting up to the southeast of I-59.
At 10:10 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated an area of heavy rainfall across the warned area. Half an inch to one and a half an inch of rainfall has fallen in the last three hours across the warned area.
At 642 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated training heavy rainfall that will cause minor flooding of streams, poor-drainage, and flood-prone areas in the advisory area.
Radar check at 5:47 PM continues to show light to moderate rainfall falling over much of the area at this point, with pockets of heavier rain and some embedded lightning.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has extended the Flood Warning for western Madison County in north central Alabama until 6:45 AM CST Sunday
At 1:12 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated rain totals were near or soon to exceed two inches in the advisory area. Additional steady rainfall with periods of heavy rain are expected in the coming hours. Flooding is expected along streams, poor-drainage, and flood-prone areas.
Radar check at 1:15 PM shows a mass of showers across the northern parts of Central Alabama, with scattered to numerous showers in the central and southern parts of the area.
